In this article, I will tell you about my experience in Baleal, where I spent a week and a half making the most of the waves, the atmosphere and the charm of this corner of Portugal.<\/p><div beaches<\/strong>The island is divided by a series of islands that offer different options to enjoy the sea. <strong>The beach to the north (Baleal Norte)<\/strong>the smaller one is known for the <strong>shallower and calmer waters<\/strong>which makes it a place where <strong>ideal for swimming and learning to surf <\/strong>if you are just starting out in the sport. The waves in Baleal are small to intermediate sized at this time of year, perfect if you're looking to improve your technique. Each day, the conditions varied a bit, but I always found perfect waves for my intermediate level. Unlike the summer months, when temperatures can be very high and the beaches are crowded with tourists, in the fall the weather is milder and less crowded. These simple, whitewashed, red-roofed houses give the island a Mediterranean flair that is very photogenic. Most of these houses are destined for tourism and function as lodgings or restaurants, but still retain the authentic atmosphere of a fishing village.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-image uagb-block-5be202a8 wp-block-uagb-image--layout-default wp-block-uagb-image--effect-static wp-block-uagb-image--align-none\"><figure class=\"wp-block-uagb-image__figure\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/miradasnomadas.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/peniche-41.jpg\" alt=\"Baleal Beach panoramic aerial perspective with the Carlos\" class=\"uag-image-5251\" width=\"900\" height=\"675\" title=\"peniche-41\" loading=\"lazy\" role=\"img\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-separator uagb-block-b238f8d5\"><div class=\"uagb-separator-spacing-wrapper\"><div class=\"wp-block-uagb-separator__inner\" style=\"--my-background-image:\"><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From the top of the peninsula, the views are spectacular, and the contrast between the white houses and the blue sea creates a really special atmosphere, especially at sunset.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-advanced-heading uagb-block-15ab7ce4\"><h3 class=\"uagb-heading-text\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Restaurante_en_Baleal_Sul_Bar_do_Bruno\"><\/span>Restaurant in Baleal Sul Bar do Bruno<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-separator uagb-block-7bab9870\"><div class=\"uagb-separator-spacing-wrapper\"><div class=\"wp-block-uagb-separator__inner\" style=\"--my-background-image:\"><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On the main beach of Baleal, you will find a restaurant named <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/maps.app.goo.gl\/6QabWtLPdQWGT1cr9\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Bar do Bruno<\/a><\/strong> in front of the sea where you can enjoy a meal or a drink after a day of surfing. This is my favorite because they also do cocktails and there is usually a lot of atmosphere. The menu is based on fresh produce, with options of fish, seafood and typical Portuguese dishes and sometimes there is live music. The restaurant is located next to the Baleal parking lot and is perfect for a break between surf sessions and have a snack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-advanced-heading uagb-block-8c788cca\"><h2 class=\"uagb-heading-text\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Transporte_en_Baleal_%C2%BFBicicleta_o_Coche\"><\/span>Transportation in Baleal: Bike or Car?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-separator uagb-block-7bab9870\"><div class=\"uagb-separator-spacing-wrapper\"><div class=\"wp-block-uagb-separator__inner\" style=\"--my-background-image:\"><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To move between Ferrel, where I was staying, and Baleal, I decided to rent a bicycle for 40 euros per week. Although it was a fun experience, I realized that renting a car would have been a more practical option.
