The Beginning of my Adventure: Erasmus in Poland

My travel story began in 2018, before the pandemic changed our lives. It all started thanks to an Erasmus exchange program, which took me to Poland. I had been studying in Poland all year, and with it being a relatively cheap country to live and travel to, I took every opportunity to explore not only Poland but also other parts of Europe. On each trip I discovered new things and aroused in me an uncontrollable desire to see more of the world. I would say that this was partly because it was my first time experiencing this kind of freedom, and without a doubt it was the beginning of everything, of realizing that the world is much bigger than I thought.

Return to Spain and the Pandemic

After my experience in Poland, I returned to Spain with one goal in mind: to finish my university degree so I could continue traveling. I worked hard and finally graduated, ready for new adventures. I had a visa to work in the United States, to go to work in Denver, Colorado, and plans to continue exploring, but then the pandemic hit. Like many, the pandemic thwarted my plans and I was forced to postpone my travel dreams.

Returning to Poland and the Jump to Qatar Airways

The pandemic brought with it a lot of uncertainty, but once restrictions began to lift, I made a more or less correct decision. I grabbed my suitcase and moved back to Poland, the place that had awakened my passion for traveling to find a life. This time, my stay in Poland led me to a new opportunity: working at Qatar Airways. I entered the tourism industry, a field that I had always been curious about and was intrinsically related to my interest in travel. However, after a year, I realized that office work did not give me the freedom I was looking for.

The Adventure through Mexico

Determined to follow my passion, I planned a new trip before leaving my job. I bought a round trip ticket to Mexico to spend two months. My initial plan was to do a surf volunteer and visit one of my best friends, who I had met during my studies in Poland. But Mexico literally made me fall in love. I decided to cancel my return flight and spend more time exploring this incredible country, specifically about 6 months.

For the next six months, I traveled all over Mexico, volunteering and meeting amazing people. I explored places like Jalisco, Guanajuato, Guadalajara, Mexico City, Puebla, Oaxaca, Chiapas, Mérida and Valladolid. Each place had its own magic and taught me something new. However, I had to return to Spain when my savings ran out.

A New Beginning: G Adventures

In 2023, back in Spain, I found an opportunity that seemed tailor-made for me. I started working at G Adventures as a Tour Leader and designer of world tours. This job gave me the freedom to travel while also allowing me to share my passion for travel with others. With each tour I designed and led, I accumulated more experiences and knowledge about different cultures and destinations.

It was at that moment when I decided to open my travel blog. I wanted to tell my adventures, help people discover new destinations and share my years of traveling experience. My blog has been constantly growing since I started it six months ago and you can usually find me online as Carlos Miraras Nómadas or Carlos N.

Chasing Dreams and New Adventures

This is my second season working with G Adventures, and I am still pursuing my dreams of traveling the world. Just before the season started this year, I spent a month and a half traveling around Sri Lanka and another month exploring the Maldives. Both destinations left me with indelible memories and gave me new stories to share on my blog.

Last season, I also had the opportunity to visit Madeira for a week and live in Lagos, Portugal, for more than a month. Furthermore, I passed a week in Tenerife, enjoying its unique landscapes and natural pools.

Final thoughts

Looking back, I see how every experience, every journey, and every challenge has shaped the person I am today. From my first days as an exchange student in Poland to my recent adventures in Sri Lanka and Maldives, every step on this journey has been a lesson and an opportunity for growth.

Through my blog, my goal is to inspire others to go out and explore the world, to challenge its limits and discover the beauty and diversity that our planet has to offer. I will continue to tell my stories, share my experiences and, above all, live life with the passion and enthusiasm that led me to start this incredible journey.
