It is one of the most popular and beautiful puddles in Tenerife. Do not miss the opportunity to visit it if you pass through the area, I personally enjoyed it like a kid. You can dive, jump off a small rock and bask in the sun and it is also ideal for a picnic.
Where is Charco de la Laja located?
El Charco de la Laja, located in San Juan de la Rambla, is a volcanic corner in the north of Tenerife. It is hidden at the end of a street in the village. You will have no problem finding a parking space nor will you have to walk far to reach the puddle.
In the following map you can see exactly where Charco de la Laja is located.
How to get to La Laja Natural Pool
Access is through a path along the coast and walking through some stairs. As you go down you will see that there are no places to sit, in any case, you can settle down on the rocks around the pond. However, when there are a lot of people it is difficult to find a good spot. If you plan to have a picnic, it is essential to bring food and drink beforehand, as there are no stores nearby.

Puerto de la Cruz and the Martínez swimming pools are just a short distance away, offering another option to enjoy the water and the sun. There is also an incredible and little known pool called Charco Verde. Near this pool the locals gather to fish for dorado.
Is it dangerous to swim in the Charco de La Laja?
It is forbidden to swim when the swell is strong. Also, approaching the edge of the pool overlooking the sea can be dangerous during strong waves, as they can suck you in. In any case, if the water is calm, you will have no problem enjoying the swim.
My Experience at Charco de La Laja
We arrived at noon, when there were already a few people. We found the access very easy and it is very nice to be able to find information from the puddle just as you enter. In addition, the stairs make it even more accessible, as other pools have no access road.
We enjoyed the pool for about 2 hours. We jumped from the rocks a couple of times and we were also snorkeling. This is something I recommend if you are going to visit the natural pools in Tenerife, don't forget your diving goggles.
In short, this is a very nice puddle, worth a visit if you pass through San Juan de La Rambla.. However, I would not put it in my top 3 puddles to visit in Tenerife, for being very popular, it is very crowded with locals and tourists.
