How to get to Benijo - Cruz del Draguillo Trail
The route begins in the impressive Benijo Beach, a black sand beach that can be accessed by stairs. Before reaching this beach you will pass through Roques de Anaga, which is another spectacular beach well known among surfers, the one in this photo.
The parking lot to the beginning of the Cruz del Draguillo route is an odyssey; with the space for only 25 cars, It is common to end up leaving the vehicle at Roque de las Bodegas Beach. If this is your case you will have to walk an extra 10 minutes. Either way, arriving early is key to secure a spot.
To get here, the roads wind their way through of the Anaga natural park. Whether you are coming from the north on the TF-12 or from Santa Cruz de Tenerife on the TF-13, each route to Benijo is an adventure in itself. All full of viewpoints and places to stop to contemplate the views or take pictures.
Features of the Benijo Cruz de Draguillo Trail
The route takes you along a path that ascends to the Caserío del Draguillo viewpoint. From here, the trail becomes narrower and somewhat slippery, especially during the descent, but provides incredible panoramic views.

My experience on the Cruz de Draguillo trail
It is a very nice route, especially since it is largely made up of bordering the northern coast of Tenerife. The views from the beginning are a spectacle. As you advance, you will come across the dragon tree and the stone houses (tafada), a relic of times past. Although this route is known in part for these two houses, I would not say that they are its main attraction.
The highlight, undoubtedly, is the ascent to the Draguillo Stone. From this natural watchtower, I was able to see the entire Benijo beach, and I dedicated myself to capturing its beauty with my camera. It is a spot that no photography lover should miss.
I recommend this route with enthusiasm. It's not just a trail; it's a nice experience. And if spending the day at the beach is your thing, combining it with this hike adds the icing on the cake to an already perfect day.
